The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) defines robotic surgery as a surgical procedure performed with technology that facilitates the interaction between the surgeon and the patient. The goal of the surgical robot is to correct human deficiencies and enhance its abilities. The ability to repeat tasks with precision and reproducibility has been the foundation of its success.
Technique based on special vision and manipulation systems introduced into the peritoneal cavity, replacing the surgeon's direct vision with an optical system for remote viewing.
